Did you know walking is the single most effective exercise we can do for our health?
I used to kind of giggle at all the "old ladies" walking the neighborhood - I was a runner, cheerleader, dancer and gymnast. I was an athlete and I could run a 6 minute mile without breaking a sweat. Walking seemed so....easy, basic, something my Grandma did.
Fast forward to my 40's and those exercises I once loved no longer worked for me. I started gaining weight, my cortisol was to the moon. My body hurt.
I started walking, and to my surprise, I actually enjoyed it! I started inviting friends to walk with me and we had really great conversations. It was better than therapy for us all.
My abs started showing again.
I got a weighted vest and started walking with that and I noticed my core got stronger, and I learned how beneficial it is to our bone density - something I was acutely aware of as I aged, that was a concern.
